SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of authenticating images of documents of various types. Method of detecting fingers on images of documents captured in uncontrolled conditions consists in the fact that a frame of a video stream containing an image of a document obtained by a mobile device in an uncontrolled environment and intended for transmission to a document recognition system is obtained, on which the quadrangles denote the document page boundaries, wherein each quadrangle specifies the position of one document page on the input image, then performing the image normalization step, in which the input image and the quadrangles specifying the position of the document are scaled, then morphological closure is applied to the obtained image and colour correction of the obtained image is carried out, and a stage of segmentation of the normalized image into separate regions is carried out, which includes preliminary segmentation by the method of growing regions, merging regions. After merging the areas, a binary image is obtained – the mask of the pixels of the input image to the areas covered by the fingers, further, the obtained areas are filtered, wherein in the case of nails contrasting with the chromaticity of the fingers, after finding the areas belonging to the fingers on the document, a check is started to search for the areas belonging to the nails.

EFFECT: higher reliability of finger selection.
