FIELD: devices generating pulsed neutron fluxes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to instruments and devices generating pulsed neutron fluxes, and can be used for neutron logging of oil and gas wells, for analysis of composition of rock substance or for various scientific research. In the pause between pulses, the remaining electrons from the transmitted pulse do not immediately go to the anode along the magnetic field lines, but continue to slowly oscillate in the Penning cell, wherein their energy is insufficient for ionisation. Thus, by the next pulse, the discharge cell already has the required number of electrons for the beginning of avalanche-like development and fast ignition of the discharge.
EFFECT: reducing the time of the leading edge and the delay time between the control voltage pulse at the anode and the appearance of the discharge current, drawn current and, as a result, the neutron pulse.
