SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment, to active optical systems for detecting and determining the position of objects. System mounted on a mobile apparatus and implementing a method for detecting and determining the position of objects near it, includes at least one optical wide-field projection device, comprising at least one periodic transmission grid, which is illuminated by an illuminator, wherein the parameters of the projection device are such that it forms a light localized moire structure. Method of detecting and determining the position of objects includes illuminating an area of space near a mobile apparatus with structured light generated by such a projection device, recording images of a region of space illuminated by a projection device at different positions of the movable apparatus. When a region with a quasi-periodic brightness variation with a known spatial period appears on the image, the fact that the mobile vehicle approaches the object or part of it at a known distance is recorded.

EFFECT: high reliability of detecting and determining the position of objects near a mobile vehicle, high safety of its movement.
