FIELD: measuring technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to profilometers and rangefinders. A system implementing a method for ranging and profilometry includes at least one image recording device, a computing device and a projection device containing a spatially extended source of non-coherent light, first and second flat periodic gratings, which are located in parallel planes on one side of the light source and which are illuminated by said light source, wherein the second grating is illuminated by the light passed through the first grating, wherein the system uses at least one device for moving the isoline with the greatest contrast of the projection of the LM structure formed by the projection device along the surface of at least one object.
EFFECT: simplification of the ranging and profilometry system.
