SUBSTANCE: invention relates to updating a radio access network (RAN), and more specifically to methods and equipment for updating software of a virtual RAN node of fifth generation (5G) communication network using a control data analytics service (MDAS). Disclosed method for controlling software update of a random access network (RAN) network element by a control data analytics service (MDAS) manufacturer comprises steps of: receiving from the MDAS consumer a request relating to the optimal time for updating the software of the network element in the RAN; identifying information relating to a dedicated radio channel (DRB); identifying information relating to the optimal time for updating the software of the network element based on the information relating to the DRB; and transmitting a report including information relating to the optimum time for updating the software of the network element.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of updating the software of a virtual RAN node of a communication network at an optimum time.
