FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: ophthalmic multifocal lens providing distance vision, intermediate vision and near vision, having a light-transmitting body with an optical axis and a refracting baseline extending over a portion of the lens body; additionally having a first portion aligned with the central region of said lens housing, and a multifocal second portion extending concentrically radially; said second part further comprises a symmetric multifocal diffraction grating superimposed on said base line covering part of the lens, the shape and the resulting distribution of light intensity vary with distance to the optical axis, wherein said first part is substantially concave and connected to the protrusion of said grating which is closest to the optical axis and provides a dominant optical power between the estimated far and intermediate optical power; configured to have a ratio of energy intended for distance vision to energy intended for near vision, which is lower than for predetermined apertures.

EFFECT: disclosed is an adaptive multifocal diffraction ophthalmic lens.
