FIELD: performing operations.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a low pressure drop ethylbenzene evaporator comprising a heat exchange unit and further comprising a gas and liquid separation unit which separates an incoming evaporated mixture and forms a two-layer structure with a heat exchange unit; plant for separation of gas and liquid on upper layer is connected to heat exchange plant on lower layer by means of intermediate pipe; upper part of the gas and liquid separation plant is equipped with an outlet pipe, and the lower part of the gas and liquid separation plant is equipped with a return pipe for the separated liquid, the heat exchange plant is a horizontal shell-and-tube heat exchange plant comprising an off-tube zone, a tube compartment located at one end of the off-tube zone, and a heat exchange tube arranged horizontally in the middle of the plates of the tube compartment; pipe compartment is equipped with a heat carrier inlet hole and a heat carrier outlet hole, and the bottom part of the outside of the tube zone is equipped with a liquid flow inlet hole; the side wall of the off-tube zone is also equipped with pipes for supply of low-pressure steam, which are located under the heat exchange pipe and next to it. Invention also relates to an energy saving process.

EFFECT: use of the proposed invention enables to effectively reduce power consumption and reduce the problem of damage to the tube bundle.
