FIELD: medicine; nephrology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for diagnosing dementia in patients with stage 5D chronic kidney disease. Blood levels of low-density lipoproteins, calcium, endothelin, total cholesterol and iron are measured. Coefficient (K) is determined by formula: K=1/(1+e−z)*100%, z=−16.69+2.26 × XLDL+2.24 × XCa+0.27 × Xend−2.6 × XCS+0.28 × XFe, where K—coefficient of probability of presence of dementia, XLDL—low-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentration, mmol/l, XCa—calcium level, mmol/l, Xend—endothelin level, pg/ml, XCS—cholesterol level, mmol/l, XFe—iron concentration, mcmol/l. If K is more than or equal to 0.21, dementia is diagnosed. If K is less than 0.21, the absence of dementia is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method enables diagnosing dementia in patients with stage 5D chronic kidney disease, taking into account pathogenetic features of development of cognitive disorders in patients with renal pathology, with high sensitivity and specificity, by determining the patient’s blood levels of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, endothelin, calcium and iron, and using the original equation.
