FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used in processing iron-ore raw material for producing iron by direct reduction. Iron oxide is reduced to metallized iron by contacting with a high-temperature reducing gas, while providing a first reducing gas containing CO and H2, and additional high-temperature reducing gas containing CO and H2. First reducing gas is mixed with additional high-temperature reducing gas to form reducing gas mixture and reducing gas mixture is introduced into shaft furnace of direct reduction as high-temperature reducing gas. Additional high-temperature reducing gas is produced in module containing gas flow rate control system, plasmatron and gas reactor. Natural gas is supplied to said module, its flow rate is varied by means of a gas flow rate control system, natural gas is supplied to a plasmatron, in which an electric arc is applied to a natural gas flow and a gas plasma stream is obtained, which is fed into a gas reactor, into which natural gas and water vapour are additionally introduced, the formed mixture is heated to temperature of 900 to 2,300 °C.
EFFECT: intensified process of direct reduction of iron.
