FIELD: quantum information.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to development of element base of quantum computers. Optical element for generating polarization-entangled photons consists of a source of a light beam incident on a crystal made from a material, in which when light radiation of the source passes through the crystal, anisotropy of refraction indices is formed. In the crystal, the beam is divided into two spatially separated linearly polarized light beams with mutually orthogonal polarizations, incident on one or two polarizers—polarization analyzers of the light beams, after passing the polarization analyzers, the light beams are supplied to one or two photosensitive elements, in which electronic signals are generated, which are transmitted to a classical computer, in which a pair of signals forming quantum states used in quantum computing is generated. Crystal is in form of a layer of an oriented thermotropic liquid crystal having anisotropy of refraction indices.
EFFECT: invention simplifies the design.
