FIELD: processing data.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an audio signal decorrelator. Decorrelator comprises a plurality of delay units, wherein each delay unit is configured to receive a portion of the frequency representation based on an audio signal, wherein each delay unit is configured to delay the received portion to provide a delayed portion. Decorrelator comprises an envelope generator configured to receive and combine signals based on delayed portions of the frequency representation. Envelope generator receives a frequency representation of the audio signal and is configured to adjust the energy of the delayed portions with respect to the frequency representation of the audio signal. Envelope generator is configured to provide a frequency representation of the combined shape. Transient parts of the signal are handled by the adapted operation of the decorrelator.
EFFECT: enabling low processing delay and/or decorrelation with low complexity and high perceptual quality, particularly when processing signals containing transients.
