FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used to determine indications for keratorefractive surgery in refractive patients. For this purpose, impression cytology is used to take an imprint of the lower and upper parts of the bulbar conjunctiva. Distribution of goblet cells is determined. In patients without a chronic inflammatory process of the ocular surface and clinical manifestations of dry eye syndrome, DES, goblet cell density of the lower and upper parts of the bulbar conjunctiva in the analyzed sample corresponds to 973 ± 789 cells/mm2, keratorefractive surgery is indicated.
EFFECT: invention provides diagnostic screening of DES in patients planning laser vision correction.
