FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method of making a superconducting magnetic system consists in making a superconducting solenoid and installing compensation windings in it of axial, along the axis of symmetry Z and components of field gradients along axes X and Y of the rectangular system in radial directions of the solenoid. At the stage of making the magnetic system, the magnetic field of the solenoid is first tested by installing test windings for compensating for axial field gradients and field gradient components along the radial directions of the solenoid. Current is fed into solenoid and closed by superconducting switch. Current is fed into each test winding from additional power sources and the windings are adjusted to compensate for the corresponding gradients of the solenoid field until the specified homogeneity is achieved. Value of current in each test winding is fixed and values of currents and direction of field gradients are determined from the obtained values. Geometrical dimensions and number of turns in compensation windings of axial and radial field gradients are calculated provided that the current in the compensation windings is equal to the solenoid current. Based on the test results, compensation windings are made and installed in the solenoid, they are connected in series to each other and to the solenoid. Current is fed from one power supply and the system is closed by a common superconducting switch.
EFFECT: providing high homogeneity of the magnetic field and simplifying the process of adjusting and operating the magnetic system.
