FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to homogeneous catalysis and relates to a method of producing a ruthenium metathesis polymerisation catalyst. Catalyst is used for polymerisation of dicyclopentadiene, cyclooctadiene, norbornene and its functional derivatives. Described is a method of producing a ruthenium catalyst for metathesis polymerisation from (3-phenyl-1H-indenylidene)-bis-(tricyclohexylphosphine) ruthenium dichloride, N,N-bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-2-trichloromethylimidazolidine (H2IMes)⋅HCCl3) and freshly precipitated silver oxide in an inert atmosphere in an organic solvent medium with constant stirring and temperature of 60 to 75 °C for 3-5 hours with molar ratio between N,N-bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-2-trichloromethylimidazolidine and (3-phenyl-1H-indenylidene)-bis-(tricyclohexylphosphine) ruthenium dichloride from 1 to 1.3.

EFFECT: obtaining a highly efficient metathesis catalyst with high output and purity of the product, as well as low content of ruthenium-containing wastes.
