SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the ruthenium complexes of the Hoveyda-Grubbs type of the second generation with a selenium atom in a six-membered chelate ring with the general formula given below, in which R=n-Bu or R=Ph. Invention also proposes a method for obtaining the complex from ruthenium complex Ind II ([1,3-Bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-2-imidazolidinylidene]dichloro(3-phenyl-1H-inden-1ylidene)(tricyclohexylphosphine)ruthenium(II)) and benzylidene ligands , selected from 2-vinylbenzylbutylselenide and 2-vinylbenzylphenylselenide, in absolute 1,2-dichloroethane using the Schlenk technique at 100°C.

EFFECT: simple method for the preparation of second-generation Hoveyda-Grubbs type complexes with a six-membered chelate ring and selenium as a chelating atom.
