FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radiation-resistant photonic-crystal light guides for operation at wavelengths of 12.0-14.0 mcm, in which single-mode operation is maintained. Disclosed infrared light guide with a large mode field diameter includes a core and a cladding consisting of rods of the same diameter. Core has diameter of 290-300 mcm, and the shell has diameter of 1.1-1.2 mm, in which there are rods with diameter of 18-20 mcm, located in a hexagonal order at distance of 145-155 mcm between their centres. Rods are made from crystals based on solid solutions of thallium bromide-iodide of the composition TlBr0.46I0.54, containing silver chloride-bromide of composition AgCl0.25Br0.75, and the core and the cladding are made of crystals based on solid solutions.
EFFECT: high detection capacity of space onboard equipment when monitoring outer space at wavelengths of 12-14 mcm.
