FIELD: fibre-optic communication systems.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fibre-optic communication systems, specifically to photonic-crystal infrared light guides. Infrared light guide with a large mode field diameter includes a core and a cladding consisting of rods of the same diameter, according to the invention, the core is made with diameter of 290-310 mcm, and the cladding is made with diameter of 1.1-1.2 mm, in which there are rods with diameter of 18-22 mcm, located in a hexagonal order at distance of 145-155 mcm between their centres, wherein rods are made from crystals based on solid solutions of thallium chloride-bromide of composition TlCl0.74Br0.26, containing silver chloride-bromide of composition AgCl0.25Br0.75 at following ratio of ingredients, wt.%: TlCl0.74Br0.26 8.0–12.0; AgCl0.25Br0.75 92.0–88.0, wherein core and cladding are made of crystals based on solid solutions with following ratio of ingredients, wt.%: TlCl0.74Br0.26 38.0–42.0, AgCl0.25Br0.75 62.0–58.0.
EFFECT: obtaining single-mode, radiation-resistant fibre.
