FIELD: computer engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method for determining attentiveness of a person includes steps of: a video stream is transmitted from a video camera placed on the upper edge of an information display device and directed at a person's face to a computing device, by means of which: key points are extracted, wherein the key points are the coordinates of the pupils of the eyes and the coordinates of the two cheekbones of the person, to determine the direction of rotation of the head with respect to the information display device; calculating pupil diameters by calculating the distance between two key points of each pupil; determining the gaze direction by calculating the head turn angle in the horizontal plane by calculating the angle between the vector connecting the right and left cheeks and the OZ axis; calculating attentiveness based on the number of frames per second the user was looking at the display device, wherein to determine this, on each frame, the pupil width change relative to its width in the rest state is monitored, wherein if it is fixed that the width of the closest pupil to the display device has become less than the initial one, then this indicates that the user has removed his/her eyes from the screen; calculations are calibrated by recalibration of head height and initial size of pupils, if it is fixed that average value of attentiveness for specified period of time is less or more than specified value.

EFFECT: invention provides higher accuracy of determining human attentiveness.
