FIELD: pharmaceutics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pharmaceutical industry, namely to a method for determining the authenticity and content of an active substance in a prospidium chloride substance by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. Method for determining the authenticity and content of an active substance in a substance of prospidium chloride by spectrophotometry in the ultraviolet region involves preparing and analysing aqueous solutions of prospidium chloride in the concentration range of 0.05 to 0.2 mol/l for recording an absorption spectrum in range of 230 to 320 nm with an absorption maximum at 282 nm, plotting a calibration straight line, calculating the molar extinction coefficient and the development of original methods for determining the authenticity and content of the active substance based on comparison of spectral characteristics and the value of the molar extinction coefficient, constructing a calibration straight line and determining concentration by a "single standard" method.

EFFECT: above described method of determining authenticity and content of active substance in substance of prospidium chloride by method of spectrophotometry in ultraviolet region is accessible and rapid, which does not require lengthy and destructive sample preparation.
