MICROWAVE WAVEGUIDE PLASMATRON FOR CREATION OF DISCHARGES AT ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE Russian patent published in 2025 - IPC H05H1/24 H05H1/30 H05H1/46

Abstract RU 2837570 C1

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of generating gas discharges in a gas flow at atmospheric pressure using continuous electromagnetic radiation in the microwave range of wavelengths of 1.5-15 mm. Microwave plasmatron for creating atmospheric pressure discharges includes a microwave radiation input system, a radiation transportation path and a working gas supply system. Microwave radiation input system with wavelength of 1.5-15 mm is separated from the radiation transportation path by a quartz microwave window with a water jacket, wherein the radiation transportation path includes a working gas direct injection section, which provides a uniform homogeneous gas flow along the transportation path, swirled gas flow input section, forming a vortex gas flow, pressed to the inner walls of the transportation path, and a conical section connected to it by its wide part, which forms a torch. Working gas supply system is connected to the working gas direct injection section through a grid having a period of less than 1/10 of the microwave radiation wavelength, and the swirled gas flow inlet section is interconnected through at least three round holes with diameter making not more than 1/3 of the microwave radiation wavelength, located symmetrically on the side surface of the swirled gas flow inlet section.

EFFECT: high efficiency of absorption of continuous millimetre-wave electromagnetic radiation by atmospheric pressure plasma.
