FIELD: chemical cleaning of stack gases from sulfuric and nitric oxides, decontamination of toxic gases. SUBSTANCE: gas current is passed in electrical-discharge reactor through coexistence zone of DC corona discharge and microwave pulse discharge excited inside cylindrical gas conduit by type E11 circular- polarization electromagnetic standing wave. Device implementing proposed method has its electrical-discharge reactor made in the form of cylindrical waveguide with metal probe electrode inserted through its butt end and with reactor microwave field shaping unit placed at certain distance from pointed end of the latter that incorporates additional waveguide section placed inside main cylindrical waveguide. EFFECT: reduced capital outlays and maintenance charges and enhanced efficiency of large-scale process. 5 cl, 3 dwg
