SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to otolaryngology, and can be used for treating bacterial ear infections, preferably for treating acute otitis externa (AOE) and acute otitis media (AOM). Disclosed is use of an otological composition in form of an aqueous solution containing a mixture in an aqueous solution containing or, alternatively, consisting of the antibiotic levofloxacin, or a salt thereof, or a hydrate thereof, or a hemihydrate thereof and a dexamethasone sodium phosphate corticosteroid, selected from a phosphate ester of dexamethasone or a phosphate ester of dexamethasone disodium, dissolved in an aqueous solution, and one or more pharmaceutical grade adjuvants and excipients for treating otological bacterial infections. Said composition is free from surfactants and suspending substances and has a pH value of 7.0 to 7.4.

EFFECT: invention provides satisfactory dissolution of both levofloxacin and dexamethasone, optimum long-term stability of up to 18 months at both high and low temperatures, as well as high tolerance in the external ear or in the middle ear.
