REDUCED DOSAGE OF ANTIBIOTIC IN ANTIBIOTIC/ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AGENT COMPOSITIONS COMBINED FOR OPHTHALMIC USE Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61K31/5383 A61K31/573 A61K9/00 A61P29/00 A61P27/02 A61P31/04

Abstract RU 2820235 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to ophthalmology and concerns using a composition containing an antibiotic and a corticosteroid for preventing and treating postoperative infections in a patient who has undergone eye surgery. Disclosed is the use of an ophthalmic composition in the form of a solution containing a mixture containing the antibiotic levofloxacin, or a salt thereof, or a hemihydrate thereof, and a corticosteroid dexamethasone, or a salt thereof, or a hydrate thereof, or a hemihydrate thereof, or alternatively consisting thereof, in a method for preventing or treating postoperative infections in a patient who has previously undergone eye surgery; where said composition is introduced into the eye of said patient by a route other than intravitreal, on a daily basis for period of 7 days after eye surgery; and wherein said method does not provide for the subsequent administration of only one antibiotic levofloxacin.

EFFECT: use of the invention provides the onset of a more rapid remission of inflammation compared to the treatment using the association/combination of tobramycin and dexamethasone (tobradex®), taking into account the same number of introduced drops, and, in addition, enables to reduce the need for antibiotic doses with the introduction of a smaller total number of drops on the expected day of treatment, leading to less distribution of the antibiotic in the environment and thus to less resistance/sensitization to levofloxacin.
