FIELD: measuring.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to tracking an implanted device using ultrasonic waves to deliver power to it. State of synchronization with the implanted device is established, its location is estimated and it is determined whether to maintain or adjust the place where the ultrasonic beam is focused based on the strength of the ultrasonic signal. Detection of the implanted device includes emitting an ultrasonic beam to focus on a plurality of focal points, receiving ultrasonic backscattered radiation corresponding to an ultrasonic beam focused on a focal point, and comparing the received ultrasonic backscattered radiation with a predetermined pattern associated with the implanted device to be detected in order to generate an estimate indicating how likely the ultrasonic backscattered radiation contains the predetermined pattern; and determining the location of the implanted device based on the estimates.
EFFECT: providing tracking of an implanted device powered by ultrasonic waves.
