FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: medical device for bone therapy by HIFU comprises a therapeutic HIFU system equipped with an array of ultrasound transducers comprising transducer elements emitting a volumetric ultrasonic beam into a heated area, a processor configured to receive surface data describing the location of the surface region being processed relative to the location of the transducer array, determine, based on the surface data, a set of commands for converters switch to control the transducer elements so as to emit a volumetric ultrasonic beam so that the location of the cross section of the volumetric ultrasonic beam located in the near field of the volumetric ultrasonic beam and intersecting the main axis along the beam propagation direction corresponds to the location of the surface region so that in the cross section corresponding to the surface location, the beam energy density of the volumetric ultrasonic beam exceeds the present therapeutic threshold in order to defocus the volumetric ultrasonic beam. The medical device includes a computer-readable medium to control the medical device by the processor.
EFFECT: reduced number of therapeutic treatments by ultrasound.
