FIELD: navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to navigation of technical means and can be used in relief measuring systems for determining the location of aircraft (AC). Radio waves are emitted and received using an antenna-feeder system consisting of two antennas, using an antenna with a wide beam pattern, measuring an inclined distance to a linear reference point, calculating the possible range of values of the absolute height, determining the dimensions of the vicinity of the selected reference point, coordinates of points of intersection of the beam axis of the antenna with a narrow beam pattern with the underlying surface are calculated by searching for the extremum of the criterion function using a correlation-extremal method for possible hypotheses of the position of the aircraft relative to the vertex of the selected reference point and determining the coordinates of the aircraft.
EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of aircraft navigation positioning.
