FIELD: radar ranging and radio navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radar equipment and can be used in designing radar terrain-metric systems designed to determine the location of aircraft in accordance with the correlation-extreme navigation principle. In method of autonomous navigation of low-altitude aircrafts, including determination of inclined distances of aircraft to earth surface, consisting in radiation of radio waves in form of several beams and further reception of reflected radio waves along one wide beam, radio waves in each of beams are emitted simultaneously in the form of statistically independent broadband noise signals, reflected radio waves are separated by beams and inclined ranges of the aircraft are determined to the earth's surface by a correlation method using a part of noise signals emitted along each beam as reference functions.
EFFECT: high stealth, noise immunity and range resolution, as well as accuracy of determining inclined distances in low-altitude aircraft radar-tracking terrain-metric systems.
