FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, namely to corrosion-resistant automatic steels of the martensitic class, subjected to two-stage annealing, used for the manufacture of firearms barrels. Steel contains the following components, by wt.%: carbon 0.12-0.15, chromium 12.00-14.00, nickel 0.20-0.40, molybdenum 0.20-0.40, silicon 0.30-0.50, manganese from more than 0.9 to 1.00, sulfur 0.15-0.35, phosphorus 0.06-0.12, calcium 0.002-0.003, boron 0.001-0.0025, nitrogen is not more than 0.03, iron is the rest.
EFFECT: increase in cutting speed and an improvement in the surface quality of steel are achieved while maintaining high hardness values at the level of 29-31 HRC and ultimate strength at the level of 950-970 MPa.
