SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to computer engineering and can be used to control electronic devices. Technical result is achieved due to method of controlling an IoT device placed on a vertical surface, wherein said IoT device is placed on the bracket for the IoT device placed on a vertical surface so as to ensure interaction with the passive means of identifying the bracket to obtain an identification signal, in response to obtaining of which the operation mode of the IoT device is changed and/or the settings of the IoT device are changed; wherein said bracket for an IoT device placed on a vertical surface is an element fixed on the vertical surface to form a protrusion, which is configured for accommodating the protrusion in a recess made on the side of the IoT device facing the vertical surface.

EFFECT: high accuracy of positioning an IoT device in space and enabling fast change of its operating mode and/or settings.
