FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing equipment for tightness control of equipment using gas methods, where nitrogen or dried air is used as a test gas. Invention can be used in control of tightness of chemical, gas and nuclear industry equipment. Method of controlling tightness of containers includes measuring pressure and temperature of test gas in container at initial moment of time and continuous measurement of pressure and temperature of gas for a given time interval, where tightness at any moment of time t is judged by the value of the tightness criterion for real gas, which is calculated by formula: where P0 is the pressure value at the initial moment of measurement, Pa; T0 is the temperature value at the initial time of measurement, K; Pi(t) is pressure value at current moment of time, Pa; Ti(t) is the temperature value at the current moment of time, K; k is a coefficient which takes into account imperfect gas, which is calculated from the virial equation of state of the gas at the initial moment of measurement, 1/K. Container is considered to be tight if the value of the tightness criterion Ti(t) during a given time interval does not go beyond Δψ: |ψi(t)|≤Δψ, where Δψ is the leakage criterion measurement error, which is equal to the total pressure and temperature measurement error, rel. units.
EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of monitoring tightness of equipment, including large-volume vessels.
