FIELD: performing operations.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal metal processing and can be used for surface hardening and increasing wear resistance of metal parts of machines and tools by means of laser processing. Device comprises a pulsed laser, a substrate for fixation of the processed part, a flat element installed above the substrate with formation of a gap between it and the substrate, and a source of flowing liquid made with possibility of complete filling of the said gap with a layer of insulating flowing liquid. At that, the device is equipped with a high-voltage direct current source, a high-voltage pulse generator and a synchronization unit, the substrate is grounded, and the flat element is made in the form of a high-voltage electrode with a hole, wherein said laser is arranged so that its optical axis is aligned with hole in said electrode to initiate plasma discharge initial channel in said fluid layer acting on processed part. High-voltage pulse generator of the corresponding design is electrically connected to the substrate, to the high-voltage electrode and to the output of the high-voltage source. Synchronization unit is configured to provide synchronous simultaneous supply of laser radiation pulses and high-voltage pulses from said generator to high-voltage electrode, which initiate corresponding electric discharges in said liquid layer.
EFFECT: use of the invention makes it possible to expand technological capabilities of the device.
