FIELD: water treatment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to water treatment by electrocoagulation and can be used for removal of silicon compounds in industrial and household water treatment systems. Initial water containing silicic acid is treated in tank 1 in continuous flow mode for 2-3 minutes until pH acidity reaches 6.5-8. Method then includes electrocoagulation treatment in electrolysis cell 3 with aluminium electrodes at current of 3 A for 10-20 s at temperature of 10-70 °C. Obtained after electrocoagulation treatment destabilized contaminants are fed for flotation into floatation tank 6, filtration on filter unit 9 and separation in separation unit 8. Pure water is withdrawn from the process system. Contaminants from floatation tank 6 are removed to foam settling tank 13, from where they are directed to separation unit 8 for separation. Further, the sludge is fed into wastes accumulation tank 14, and the separated clarified composition is fed through pipe 15 into pipe 5 which connects the outlet of the electrolysis cell to the inlet of a floatation tank or into clean water tank 10. Destabilized contaminants obtained after electrocoagulation treatment at a composition temperature of more than 70 °C is directed to separation in separation unit 8 containing at least one centrifugal separator.
EFFECT: reducing content of silicic acid to standard values, longer operating life of components of the apparatus, particularly the electrolysis cell.
