FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of producing bacterial alginate, involving culturing Azotobacter vinelandii 16 VKPM B-10436 on Ashby medium with the following composition, g/l: NaCl 0.2; K2HPO4 0.1; MgSO4 0.2; K2SO4 0.1; CaCO3 5; with sucrose concentration of 50, 60, 70 g/l for 3 days at temperature 30 °C and mixing device rotation speed of 250 rpm under aerobic conditions with subsequent separation of culture fluid by centrifugation at 7000 rpm for 45 minutes, wherein obtained polysaccharide is precipitated from supernatant dehydrated isopropyl alcohol in ratio 2:1, followed by lyophilisation.
EFFECT: invention provides a wider range of methods of producing bacterial alginate capable of gelling in the presence of calcium ions and colourless due to colourlessness of the culture medium.
