SUBSTANCE: invention relates to propulsion engineering, particularly, to intercoolers. Method of controlling an engine air intake intercooler comprising primary thermal control unit (3) configured to heat and cool sucked-in air comprises: obtaining a real-time air intake temperature for air inlet (1) of the intercooler; heating mode activation at air intake temperature below preset minimum temperature; cooling mode switching on when the air intake temperature is higher than the set maximum temperature value. Air intake intercooler further comprises secondary temperature control unit (4). Secondary (4) and primary units (3) of thermal control are located in series in direction from air inlet (1) to outlet (2) of air intake intercooler. At air intake temperature within specified temperature range control of primary thermal control unit (3) so that to stop its operation, and cooling sucked air by means of secondary temperature control unit (4). Also disclosed is engine air intake intercooler control system.
EFFECT: optimum temperature range at air intake.
