SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of: obtaining measurement data of the tension force on the tension device of the belt conveyor from at least one tension measurement device and performing, by means of a computing device, measurement processing, during which they are compared by analysing the tension force amplitude spectrum on the belt conveyor tensioning device for detection of abnormal harmonics and/or spectrum sections corresponding to the reference pattern, indicating the occurrence of an abnormal source of concentrated resistance to the movement of the conveyor belt, with at least one reference pattern of the tension force on the tension device of the belt conveyor; determining the occurrence of an abnormal source of concentrated resistance to the movement of the conveyor belt if at the previous stage a compliance with at least one reference pattern of the tension force on the tension device of the belt conveyor is detected, indicating occurrence of abnormal source of concentrated resistance to conveyor belt movement; recording data in memory of computing device on detected abnormal source of concentrated resistance to conveyor belt movement and/or transmit them to external device.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of determining abnormal source of concentrated resistance to movement of conveyor belt as a result of emergency jamming in the belt bed of a foreign ore-infesting object or a piece of ore, leading to belt damage, in particular, to a longitudinal cut (break) of the conveyor belt.
