SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of transmitting, to an O-RAN (O-RU) radio unit via a direct transit interface, one or more control plane (C-plane) messages and receiving, from the O-RU via a direct transit interface, an acknowledgment (ACK)/non-acknowledgment (NACK) feedback message for the one or more C-plane messages, wherein each C-plane message from said one or more C-plane messages includes section extension information for requesting ACK/NACK, wherein the section extension information includes a request identifier (ID) used to identify a section description for which ACK/NACK feedback is requested, and wherein the ACK/NACK feedback message includes at least one of ACK information for indicating a request identifier of a correctly decoded section description or NACK information for indicating a request identifier for an incorrectly decoded section description.

EFFECT: providing fault-tolerant transmission and reception of messages over a direct transit network.
