FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of inorganic oxide flakes having excellent resistance to radiation damage, which can be used as reinforcing material or filler in articles and structures exposed to radiation: the building or protective covers of a nuclear reactor, buildings of a space base, artificial satellites, medical products. Flakes of inorganic oxides mainly consist of SiO2, Al2O3, CaO and Fe2O3, specifically contain (wt.%): total SiO2 and Al2O3 from 40 to 70, where ratio Al2O3/(SiO2+Al2O3) is in range from 0.15 to 0.40, Fe2O3 16–25, CaO 5–30, unavoidable impurities making the rest. Compositions containing said flakes are obtained by mixing flakes with a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin or rubber.
EFFECT: obtaining materials which are resistant to radiation damage.
