FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and may be used in production of flux for slag composition correction. Flux for slag composition correction in production of electrical steel contains, wt.%: Al2O3 35-41, CaO 52-60, MgO ≤3.5, SiO2 ≤3.5, Fe2O3 ≤1.5, Cr2O3 ≤0.4, TiO2 ≤0.1, C ≤0.3, S ≤0.1, wherein ratio CaO/Al2O3 is 1.3-1.7. Invention also discloses use of the flux and a method of making said flux. Flux is obtained by sintering the charge in a rotating furnace or by melting charge in an electric furnace, followed by crushing the obtained product in a crusher to piece of 5-40 mm, wherein charge includes following components: waste lining of metallurgical units, containing: 85-94 wt.% Al2O3, 0-5 wt.% CaO, 1-15 wt.% MgO, a component containing calcium oxide and a component containing aluminium oxide.
EFFECT: producing flux which does not contain fluorine, effectively sorbs nonmetallic inclusions, lowers the slag fusion temperature at the area of contact between slag and molten metal, and also enables to recycle metallurgical wastes and reduce power consumption when producing the flux.
