FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of vacuum photoelectronic devices and specifically to a method of making an entrance window for electro-optical converters. Proposed method comprises grinding the workpiece ends by abrasive with grain size of 23-64 mcm at tool rotation speed of 10-300 rpm and processing temperature of 18-27 °C, polishing the outer end with a suspension of cerium oxide with water in a ratio of powder to water of 1:3-5, grain size of 0.5-62 mcm, pH of the suspension in range of 5.8-8.5, providing tool rotation speed of 700-1500 rpm and processing temperature of 18-27 °C, and inner end polishing is performed by fire polishing. For this purpose workpiece is preliminarily heated to glass transformation temperature, after which the surface of the inner end face is melted by rapid heating above the Lyttleton temperature so that the surface of the inner end face is melted and the flatness of its surface is preserved until obtaining roughness of the surface of the inner end face Ra ≤ 0.02, then, said billet is annealed for removal of thermal strains. Then, billet inner face is additionally ground by abrasive with grain size of 5 to 23 mcm.
EFFECT: eliminating the fractured layer with concomitant impurities on the surface of the inner end of the entrance window and, as a result, high sensitivity of the photocathode and longer service life of the electro-optical converter.
