FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for volume painting of wall ceramics. To obtain an iron-containing pigment wastes from enrichment of ferruginous quartzites of the Kursk magnetic anomaly are heat treated in a plasma reactor for 1-2 s at a plasma jet temperature of 7000-7500 K. Method then includes grinding in a centrifugal-planetary mill to particle size 3.5-3.6 mcm with specific surface area 620-640 m2/kg.
EFFECT: invention speeds up production of a pigment which gives the ceramic a dark brown colour, and reduces power consumption.
