FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of multiphase materials based on zirconium dioxide, having semi-transparency. Material can be used to make articles for technical and medical purposes, mainly for aesthetic restoration in orthopaedic dentistry. Semitransparent ceramic material has a phase composition represented by solid solutions of tetragonal and cubic forms of zirconium dioxide, where content of the latter is in range of 40-60 wt.%, wherein charge contains, wt.%: Sm2O3 12.0-15.0, the rest is ZrO2. Method of producing ceramic material involves heat treatment of a powder mixture of said composition, deagglomeration, compaction of the mixture and three-step sintering. Powder precursors are synthesized via reverse deposition of a mixture of single-molar solutions of zirconium oxychloride and samarium chloride salts with ammonia solution. Compacts are sintered in the following modes: first stage – sintering in electric furnaces with air medium with heating temperature raising to 1000 °C at rate of 5 °C/min, and to final temperature 1400 °C at rate of 2 °C/min, isothermal holding at which is 1 hour, second stage – workpieces are subjected to hot isostatic pressing according to the following mode: initial starting pressure of argon 60 MPa, its increase to 100 MPa with increase in temperature to 1450 °C, and exposure duration of 1 hour, third stage in electric furnaces with air medium with heating temperature raising to 950 °C at rate of 5 °C/min, isothermal holding at which is 1 hour.
EFFECT: obtaining semi-transparent ceramic material having high strength at static bending from 650 to 700 MPa and transparency coefficient of up to 22%.
