FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of materials based on zirconium dioxide stabilized in tetragonal form. Material can be used for making articles for both structural and medical purposes, mainly in orthopaedic dentistry. Ceramic material based on the synthesized nanopowders has a phase composition represented by a solid solution of Zr1-n[SmCa]nO2 and a corundum microphase, which is provided by the following chemical composition of the charge (wt.%) Sm2O3 – 6.8÷8.6; CaO – 0.2÷0.5; Al2O3 – 0.4÷2.0; rest is ZrO2, wherein total content of CaO and Sm2O3 does not exceed 9.1%. Method of producing ceramic material involves reverse deposition of a mixture of single-molar solutions of salts of zirconium oxychloride, samarium chloride, calcium nitrates and aluminium with an ammonia solution, drying, heat treatment, deagglomeration, compaction of charge and sintering. For the precipitation process, 10 wt.% of 10% aqueous solution of polyacrylic acid is added to the mixture of one-molar solutions of salts, and 20 wt.% of butanol-1 is added to the precipitation agent. Obtained xerogel is heat treated at temperature of 950 °C, and sintering is carried out at a heating rate of 2 °C/min from 950 °C to final temperature of 1350-1380 °C, isothermal holding at which is 2 hours.

EFFECT: ceramic material having a microstructure with an ultra-sized grain composition and high parameters of crack resistance and strength, values of which are maintained after exposure to factors corresponding to long-term stay in vivo; ceramic material has static bending strength of not less than 800 MPa, crack resistance K1c up to 12.5 MPa-m1/2 and microhardness HV up to 11 GPa.
