FIELD: cosmonautics.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to space engineering, in particular to passive systems for controlling orientation of spacecraft. To stabilize angular position of spacecraft, system of three concentric toroidal surfaces carrying electrostatic charges is arranged around its surface. At interaction of magnetic field of the Earth with charged surfaces there is a moment of Lorentz forces, which is used for stabilization of spacecraft. Geometrical parameters and charges of tori are selected in accordance with conditions, taking into account gravitational disturbances, which enables to solve the problem of spacecraft stabilization in the presence of damping. For three-axis stabilization of the spacecraft with the unambiguous direction of the axes associated with the spacecraft, one of the tori is made in the form of two equal parts equipped with controlled contacts and capable of being charged independently, inductance coil is arranged along axis of rotation of the other torus to create its own magnetic moment of the spacecraft at the stage of preliminary damping and bringing the spacecraft into equilibrium position.
EFFECT: high reliability and efficiency of the spacecraft orientation control system based on the use of the Lorentz torque.
