FIELD: space engineering; semi-passive control systems of artificial earth satellites. SUBSTANCE: double electrostatic layer is applied on part of surface of artificial earth satellite for control of its orientation. During interaction of this layer with earth magnetic field, control moment of Lorenz forces arises which has orientation effect on artificial earth satellite. For steady orientation of artificial earth satellite, magnitude and direction of vector of dipole moment of double layer is changed in orbital coordinate system with gravitational disturbances taken into account, thus making it possible to solve problem of stabilization of artificial earth satellite at presence of dampening. For realization of controllable double electrostatic layer, use is made of system of controllable power supply sources and electrodes arranged on insulating struts on the outside of conducting envelope of artificial earth satellite forming double electric layer with controllable distribution of polarization together with it. Power supply sources are insulated from conducting envelope of artificial earth satellite and are controlled via fiber-optics lines in three mutually perpendicular axes. EFFECT: extended filed of application; enhanced compatibility with scientific equipment of artificial earth satellite. 4 cl, 7 dwg
