METHOD OF CUTTING OF DEFORMED CRYSTAL OF DIAMOND Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: diamond cutting. SUBSTANCE: method of cutting of deformed crystal of diamond is recommended predominantly for manufacture of diamonds. It includes setting of crystal of diamond into holder, turn of crystal of diamond clockwise about of holder through angle 22 deg 30', test polishing in various directions relative to crystallographic axes of diamond, selection of polishing direction with most intensive cutting and subsequent grinding and polishing of facets. For increase of productivity test polishing is performed in sequence in three positions of holder with crystal of diamond relative to polishing direction. First of them has positive angle from 29 deg 45' to 30 deg, second one is perpendicular and third one has negative angle from 29 deg 45' to 30 deg with with reference to symmetry axis of machined facet. Grinding and polishing of facets are carried out in second position of holder relative to polishing direction with same intensity of cutting in each of three positions of holder. To achieve same intensity of cutting in each of three positions of holder discrete turns of crystal of diamond through 1 deg about axis followed by test polishing till angle of turn of crystal of diamond about axis of holder is 28 deg 30' are implemented before grinding and polishing of facets. EFFECT: increased productivity of polyshing of deformed crystals of diamonds.
