FIELD: magnetohydrodynamics. SUBSTANCE: the loading system of the MHDG has an electric load, two current adders, each consisting of n/2 units (2n - quantity of MHDG electrodes), each unit uses a pair of thyristor bridges, n transformers of magnetic coupling of these units in both adders, capacitors for switching of thyristors 2(n/2-2) of the transformer for magnetic coupling between the units, capacitors and inductors. The loading system provides for an equality of electrode currents in all operating conditions of the system, equality to the value of DC voltages at the capacitors, due to which the conditions of thyristor switching in the starting conditions of systems of system operation are improved and overvoltages at the interelectrode gaps are prevented. During device operation control pulses are applied to thyristors 7 of units 5 of current adders 4 during one half cycle of the operating frequency of current adder 4, and to thyristors 8 - during the other half-cycle. Alternating currents flowing in the circuits using electrodes 2 of the MHDG during different half-cycles of the operating frequency are inductive-coupled with one another due to the magnetic coupling between units 5. With deviation of currents in electrodes 2 from the rated value, a magnetic flux arises in coupling transformers 16 and 17, which equalizes the electrode currents of the MHDG.
