FIELD: steel melting, more specifically, oxygen-converter process; applicable in steel melting with preliminary heating of scrap in oxygen converter. SUBSTANCE: oxygen is supplied under pulsing conditions: in scrap heating with pulsation frequency of 100-150 Hz; in process of the first 10-20% of initial time of melt refining with frequency of 300-350 Hz, with subsequent increase of pulsation frequency up to 600-800 Hz. The device for pulsing supply of oxygen has coaxial pipes and end tip with Laval's nozzles. Made in diffuser part of nozzles are circular recesses with depth equalling 2.5-3.5 and 1.7-2.0 critical diameters of nozzle. In this case, recesses are found at a distance of 0.7-1.2 and 1.8-2.4 critical diameters of nozzle from nozzle cut. Installed in line of oxidizer supply are two diaphragms whose diameter equals 0.8-0.9 diameter of supplying line spaced at a distance from each other 0.7-1.1 supplying line diameter. EFFECT: higher efficiency of scrap heating, reduced consumption of pig iron and increased output of melting unit due to acceleration of mass transfer between solid carbon-containing fuel and oxygen flow. 2 cl, 1 dwg, 4 tbl
