FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, more specifically, control of production processes in ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes additional prognostication of temperature and carbon content before tapping of pig iron to steelmaking unit. For this purpose, subject to measurement are temperature, chemical composition of pig iron at discharge from blast furnace, temperature drop rate of pig iron in transportation and temperature drop at pouring and said temperature and carbon content are determined by the offered relationships. Additional information on content and temperature of pig iron taking into account duration of its transportation makes it possible to determine steelmaking unit to which it is expediently to supply pig iron with minimal losses of heat and to take into account reduction of carbon content before pouring into steelmaking unit. EFFECT: reduced specific consumption of pig iron and improved quality of steel. 1 dwg
