FIELD: instrumentation technology. SUBSTANCE: working substance includes yttrium-aluminium garnet activated with samarium oxide or cerium oxide in the amount of 0.5-5.0 per cent by mass. Possibility of use of mentioned material with specified activators is provided by presence of high-temperature peaks of thermally stimulated luminescence within ranges 280-300 and 400 C. Before measurement of small doses when thermal luminescent dosimeter was stored it is desirable to subject it to thermal treatment: with samarium activator at 450 C, with cerium activator at 550 C. EFFECT: expanded range of doses of X-ray and gamma radiations to range of small doses up to 10-9 C/kg and enhanced sensitivity. 1 tbl
