FIELD: analytical methods for gases. SUBSTANCE: invention can, in particular, be utilized in chromatography as basis for high-sensitive detector with variable selectivity and consists in ionizing trace substances in the stream of gas being analyzed, separating ions in alternate, periodic, and asymmetric with regard to its polarity electrical field, and registering ions. Electric field is defined by the following relationship: where E*(t) is magnetic field strength, T oscillation period, t current time, d characteristic size of stream of gas being analyzed in the direction of action of alternate electric field, and Ka coefficient of mobility of ions.
